Matthew 6:19-21: do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
While I guess we can cut our squirrel friend a little slack for "storing up treasures on earth" but we need to be ever mindful of where our treasures are being stored away. A recent trip to our local Sam's Club tells me that lots of people count toilet paper and paper towels as a treasure, the shelves are empty courtesy of Covid-19, wave number three.
A more serious error would be to spend our entire earthly lives working furiously to accumulate cars, homes and property that will count for nothing in heaven. I have made that mistake and I am committed to a "course correction" before I finish my time here in my temporary home on earth.
Lastly, if your treasures are where your heart is, give yourself a "heart check up" and make sure that your treasures are in the correct place.
Love the little squirrel!
